June 08 Sail6/10/2008 Jim Goebel and crew on the Hobie 16, Greg and the awsome Piver cat, Geoff on the Laser, and Paul and Mark on the modified Prindle showed up for erratic and blustery northerlies on Lake Oroville. The Lake would go from a calm eight knots to fifteen gusting 23 knots and whitecaps in under five minutes. The gusts came with radical windshifts and required great attention. The small boats did not cleat their mains all day. Greg took delivery of a 28'6" mast for the Piver--this, and the new suit of sails, should greatly enhance its performance. Geoff looked good on the Laser and claims not to have gotten cold. Other club boats were at regattas. Wade came buy fo chat and pick up a new lifting pole for the Raven's mast. We may have to switch to another venue in a month or so because the lake is being drained! |
